Description

Brynffynon is a two-window cottage dating from 1746. The cottage has roughcast walls beneath a slate roof, with a rendered end stack on the right-hand side. A modern gabled porch has been added to the far left, with an entrance to the right-hand return, featuring a half-glazed boarded door and side lights. The windows are late 20th-century wooden casements with top-hung lights. A large three-light window is located on the ground floor, offset to the right of the centre of the front facade. Two flat-roofed half-dormers are above, each containing a two-light window. A rectangular stone tablet is set into the wall near the top, bearing an elegant rustic inscription that reads 'HIE / Brynfynnon / 1746'. The rear of the cottage has a small two-light casement window to the left and a tall single-light window to the right. A single-storey lean-to extends from the south gable end, with its south wall angled to follow the road boundary. To the west, this lean-to has a boarded door under a segmental head and a letterbox inserted in the west wall. A second lean-to is located against the north gable end, likely built in two phases; the front is not visible, but a small two-light casement window is present on the rear. The interior of the cottage has not been inspected.
