Description
The Hearse House in St Mwrog's Churchyard is a single-storey building with a gable front, made of white-washed random stone and topped with a slate roof. The roof's edges are supported by hollow-moulded stone kneelers. The south gable end features a wide entrance facing the road, which has double boarded doors beneath a segmental arch made of stone voussoirs. On the north gable end, which faces into the churchyard, there is a single boarded door also under a segmental arch of stone voussoirs. Above this door is a pointed-arched stone surround, which may be medieval and possibly re-used from the church. This surround contains a slate tablet that reads '1835 / Rev. Newcome MA / Warden of Ruthin / Archdeacon Merioneth,' with the names of the churchwardens listed below.
