Description
This is a former stable block, built in the later 19th century as part of Galltfaenan Hall. It is rectangular in shape and constructed from limestone rubble, with a slate roof and a tiled ridge. A notable feature is the fine, star-shaped brick chimney of the same period, with projecting courses that form a decorative cornice, and a contemporary metal louvre in its centre. The block consists of five bays, with two original boarded entrances, each accompanied by a window to the right and a larger entrance to the far right. The original windows are unhorned, near-flush sashes, each containing 36 panes of glass. All window and door openings have a cambered head with dressed limestone voussoirs. The larger right-hand entrance remains boarded, with a 12-pane rectangular overlight above. Originally, the first two bays had a small projecting roof, a later 19th-century addition which has since been removed. The rear of the building shows evidence of former cart and coach bays, now filled in with brickwork.
