Description
2 Clwyd Street is a three-storey building constructed from coursed and squared rubble, topped with a slate roof featuring end wall and axial stacks positioned on either side of the ridge line. The main façade facing Clwyd Street has a five-window arrangement, while the return elevation on Russell Road has four windows.
The entrances on Clwyd Street are framed by moulded architraves and topped with entablature hoods supported by brackets. Flanking the doorways are two-storey canted bay windows, which remain intact at Nos 3 and 4. These bay windows feature two and four-pane sash windows separated by fluted corner columns, with panelled aprons and plain cornices.
At No 2, the ground floor has been altered with the addition of a shop front from around 1950 that wraps around the bay window and extends across the Russell Road elevation. However, the original architectural detailing is preserved in the upper storeys, where four-pane sash windows are located above the doorways and on the first floor of the Russell Road elevation. The second storey also features sash windows with plain stone lintels. The eaves have an overhang supported by moulded brackets.
