Description

The gatepiers and gates at the Church of St Peter consist of two pairs of gatepiers with single gates on either side of a central pair of double gates. The gatepiers are made of grey rock-faced stone and stand approximately 2.1 meters high, featuring smooth gabled copings. Each pier has roundels on the front and rear, crocketed finials, and tapers in a half-hipped arrangement, with slightly battered bases. The main gates are made of wrought iron, designed with horizontal panels of scrolls and vertical bars, topped with fleurs-de-lis finials. The single gates at the ends match the design of the main gates. The end gatepiers connect to the rubble walls of the churchyard.
