Description
The dovecote at the Old Rectory is a square structure made of red brick in irregular bond, with the gable end facing the house largely rebuilt. It features a slate roof topped with a central octagonal timber lantern, which has a weathervane and dove-holes beneath camber-headed lights, although these were boarded up at the time of the survey. There are no dove-boxes visible on the exterior walls. The main front has modern French windows, along with a modern window in a cambered opening above. To the right side, there is another tall cambered opening with a modern window.
Adjacent to the dovecote on the right is a tall, contemporary garden wall, which has a later two-bay carthouse lean-to in front. This lean-to has a mono-pitch slate roof, with brick sides and a central pier, and features modern horizontal wooden boarding at the front. The wall extends for about 10 meters before ending irregularly. The ground floor includes arched recesses and a modern stair.
