Description
Coronation Hall, formerly a chapel, is a plain building constructed from local axe-dressed limestone masonry, rendered on two sides, and topped with a shallow-pitched hipped slate roof. It can be accessed from Maes-y-llys or through a narrow passage next to Chelsea Cottage.
The front, or entry side, which faces northwest, is symmetrical and features two doors. The upper storey juts out, supported by five main beams and five large cast iron columns. The jettied floor has a design that includes shallow arches. There are slightly lowered sections of the jettied upper floor on each side, indicating symmetrical staircase landings. In the upper storey, there are three sash windows, each with 16 panes.
On the southwest side, there are two small pointed windows positioned high, and on the southeast side, there are two similar high-level windows symmetrically placed, along with a pair of taller windows at a lower level that likely flank the pulpit area.
The only external inscriptions include a stone on the southwest side elevation that features a verse from Psalm V and the date 1822, and another stone on the opposite side indicating the chapel's rebuilding in 1830.
The interior has not been seen.
