Description

The St. Asaph Auction Rooms is a symmetrical, two-storey building with a five-window red brick front, featuring some blue bricks, and topped with a slate roof that has a ventilation cupola. The facade includes tall arched 12-pane windows adorned with voussoirs and fan traceried heads. Steps lead up to a central arched entrance, which has a fanlight and panelled double doors flanked by Doric columns. Above the entrance, there is a plaque that reads: "Adeiladwyd 1807 a ailadeiladwyd 1843".

The right gable end is scribed rendered brick with quoins, a billet cornice, and a rusticated ground floor beneath a cill band. The central bay is deeply advanced and lower, featuring a pedimented gable end with a large round window that is now blocked, positioned above panelled double doors. Fluted brackets rest on a band course above this central bay.

To the left, set forward to the street, is a two-storey and basement former chapel house with a single window. This building is also constructed of brick, has a slate roof, and features a central rendered chimney stack. It includes small pane sash windows with lintels, a boarded basement door, and panelled double doors to the right that are accessed by parallel steps. There is a modern basement window to the left, along with some alterations.

The interior of the chapel is reported to have had its fittings removed after it was no longer in use during the 1970s.
