Description
Glain Orme is a house designed in an eclectic Free Renaissance and Arts & Crafts style, featuring two storeys and an attic. The ground floor is finished in smooth render with red sandstone dressings and a cornice, while the first floor is made of pressed red brick with tile hanging on the gable. The roof is covered with red tiles and has tall red brick chimneys that include cornices.
The front of the house has a gabled bay with a 3-light casement window in the attic and a 5-light casement window on the first floor. On the ground floor to the left, there is a doorway framed by a stone doorcase with flanking pillars topped with blocking courses. Above the doorway is a cornice that supports a Renaissance-style low relief semi-circular pediment and an obelisk. The entrance features double-leaf panelled doors. To the right of the gabled bay, there is a block set back that has two sash windows on the first and second floors.
To the left of the gabled bay, there is a polygonal turret topped with a lead cupola and a tall pinnacle, with windows on both the first and ground floor levels. Further left of the turret, there is another two-storey bay that has a casement window with a triangular projection on the first floor and a glass-roofed verandah with cambered arcading on the ground floor.
