Description

The Bridge public house is a three-storey building that features a combination of roughcast and smooth-rendered finishes. The middle and upper storeys are roughcast, accented with smooth-rendered architraves, quoins, fascia, and cornice. The lower storey is rendered with channelled rustication and has a continuous painted fascia along the main elevations, topped with a moulded cornice. The hipped slate roof has bracketed eaves.

The building has blue brick stacks with yellow-brick quoins, located at the centre and the left end. The front facade, facing Rose Hill Street, is divided into two sections, each with two bays, with the left section set back. The main entrance is located in the second bay from the left and features Tuscan columns aligned with the right-hand section. This entrance includes half-glazed panel doors with an overlight and sidelights. To the left of the entrance is a triple 2-pane sash window, while the right section contains triple and double 2-pane sash windows, along with a split panelled door at the right end, also under an overlight. Access to the entrance is via slate steps.

In the middle and upper storeys, there are 4-pane sash windows, with the upper storey windows being smaller in size. The right end of the building is splayed at the corner of Rose Hill Street and Castle Street, featuring a 4-pane horned sash window in the lower storey. There is one window return to Castle Street, which has a 3-light fixed window in the lower storey and 4-pane horned sash windows above, similar to those on the Rose Hill elevation.

The left end wall includes a narrow 1½-storey projection, while the rear of the building is constructed of rubble stone and painted white. The right-hand section of the rear is set forward, with the ground level being higher. It contains two 4-pane horned sash windows on each storey, except for the lower right, which has been converted into a doorway leading to a balcony at the first-floor level. The building has been modernised.
