Description
Fron-dirion is a building constructed with local stone boulders arranged in irregular diminishing courses and features a grouted irregular old slate roof. It has one storey and an attic, with three bays, and is situated on an uphill site. At the upper end on the west side, there is a small lean-to. The west side has a boarded door beneath a large stone lintel, a 16-pane sash window to the right, and a larger paned window to the left. The east side features small paned timber casement windows, a glazed door in the original opening, and a small window in the gable end. A large square stack with a conical top is located at the upper gable end, along with an added stack for the inner room in the southwest corner. There are also inconspicuous small old roof lights.
Originally, the building had a living kitchen at the upper end, which included a large inglenook fireplace with an oven, and an inner room with an added corner fireplace at the lower end. Inside, there are two chamfered ceiling beams and two trusses: one is a raised cruck with a lapped and square pegged collar on low pitched principal rafters, while the other has a morticed collar. The structure also includes two tiers of purlins, and the underside of the slates is torched.
