Description

Coed-y-Bleiddiau is a cottage dating probably to the 18th century, consisting of a single-storey, two-bay main range with a two-storey wing to the rear. The building is constructed from random stone with a hipped slate roof to the main range, featuring a ribbed ridge and hips. Tall stone stacks are present. The eaves overhang deeply, with slate-lined soffits. Small-pane sash windows are fitted throughout. The front of the cottage faces the railway, with a central timber porch and door flanked by windows. A single window is offset to the left of the left elevation. A central rear wing with an upper floor is likely contemporary with the main range. The left side of the wing features a window and door on the ground floor, and a window on the upper floor. A formerly glazed entrance extension on this side has been demolished. A further cat-slide extension is located to the right, and a hipped extension projects from the rear. An additional hipped Ty Bach outbuilding stands at right angles to the rear extension. The gardens contain a memorial stone to Lillian Mary Jackman, who lived 1911-1995, sister of Mrs Johnson. The cottage was not inspected internally, but is said to retain a central entrance lobby with single rooms either side, and a passage leading to a rear stair.
