Description
The barn located to the northwest of Old House is a Grade II listed structure. Its construction features vary, with the northern elevation and the western section of the southern elevation, which has partially collapsed, made of heavy boulder masonry and small packing stones that suggest it was originally built using dry stone wall techniques. The majority of the southern elevation consists of roughly squared and mortared stonework. The barn has coped gables and a roof covered with corrugated tin sheets.
On the northern elevation, there are opposed double doors, with loft openings beneath the eaves that are offset to either side. There is also a small doorway to the right of the double doors. Inside, the remains of a stone flagged threshing floor can be found between the doorways. The barn has five bays, although one truss may be missing. It features A-frame trusses with slightly curved principals; the trusses flanking the doorways are collar trusses with heavy ties. The tie-beams on the outer trusses have been sawn off, and there is evidence of a raised roof height.
