Description

Nos. 1-9 Gwynant Street form a group of nine cottages built of roughly-squared stone blocks under a continuous slate roof, featuring a tiled ridge and shared chimneys. A break in the masonry is apparent between nos. 2 and 3, and again between nos. 8 and 9, indicating different building phases. The cottage at no. 9 is a two-window unit with a central entrance, while the others are single-window units arranged as reflected pairs, with alternating paired inner doors and windows. All the doors are 20th century replacements, generally modern. The ground floor window at no. 6 (Hebog) is a 12-pane sash, whereas nos. 2, 4, 7, and 9 have later 19th century plain sashes. All except nos. 1 and 2 have returned slate labels and slate lintels above their ground floor windows. Upper floor windows retain their original 19th century 9-pane sashes under the eaves at nos. 2, 7, and 9, and no. 6 has a 12-pane sash; the others are modern replacements.
