Description
The barn at Dref Cerrig Farm is a Grade II listed structure built with rubble masonry and features a steeply pitched slate roof. The front pitch includes large glazed panels, plain eaves, and close verges. There are opposed barn doors positioned to the right, with a door at the front made of planks and a timber lintel, while the rear has been walled up. Each bay has single ventilation slits at the front and rear. The left end of the barn has a later pitching door, possibly from the 19th century.
Inside, the barn contains three cruck trusses that are partly set into the walls. It features through purlins, collar-and-tie beams raised with full crucks, and bow blades tenoned with collared yokes. The original purlins and most of the rafters remain intact, and the floor is made of flagstone.
This barn is a rare example of an early agricultural building that has survived in its original form, contemporary with the farmhouse.
