Description

1 and 2 Marianfa is a three-storey building with a one-window addition to an earlier block on the left side. It features coursed rubble masonry with stressed quoins and a steeply pitched slate roof with close verges and eaves. The building has tall square stacks made of roughly dressed blocks with moulded caps and water tabling, similar to the crossing at the rear.

The front elevation includes Victorian sash windows with stone lintels. The gable end facing the alleyway is asymmetric. On the second floor, there is a low-set six-vertical-pane sash window, while the ground floor has a twelve-pane sash window on the left, with the right end set back in line with a four-storey rear wing, resulting in a two-window elevation. The windows on the third and second floors have stone lintels, with fixed iron lights to the left and six-pane timber casements to the right. There is a doorway on the left at the first floor with a stone landing step inset into the angle of the building, leading to a modern door. To the right, there is a Victorian sash window similar to the ground floor, and the right-hand corner of the elevation is polygonal.

On the other side of the rear wing, there is a tier of four-light casements. This building is representative of the woollen trade that was once dominant in the town.
