Description
The Brewhouse and Pigsties at Caer Gai is a one-and-a-half storey rectangular structure that likely has earlier origins. It features a single-storey pigsty block attached at right angles to the southwest, creating an overall L-plan. The building is constructed of rubble with slobbered pointing and boulder foundations, topped with slate roofs and a squat end chimney on the brewhouse block.
On the main northeast side, there is an off-centre entrance to the right with a boarded door. To the left, a large 19th-century small-pane cross-window is present, along with a three-part small-pane rectangular casement located under the eaves diagonally above. An external flight of stone steps leads to the right gable end, where a boarded upper entrance provides access to the loft floor. Attached to the left is a lean-to addition with a boarded door. Beyond this, there is a partly-roofless link block, which leads to a small pitched-roofed ty bach.
The pigsty block, which is connected to the southwest, contains three stys with walled pen enclosures in front of each, facing southeast. The roof of the pigsty block features a tiled ridge. The interior was not inspected during the survey.
