Description
Nos 4, 5, and 6 Mawddwy Cottages are built in a robust mountain-Gothic style using local slate stone rubble, which is roughly coursed, and topped with slate roofs. The south elevation is rendered and lined out. The building has two storeys, with No 4 on the south elevation, No 5 on the east elevation facing the road, and No 6 on the north elevation. Each elevation features wavy bargeboards on the gables and a steep central gable facing the road. Near the center of each elevation, there is a steeply gabled porch with an open outer pointed arch, also adorned with shaped bargeboards. The cottages have 12-paned sash windows set back under a two-centred arch made of stone voussoirs, with one window on each side of the porch and one above. The first floor has windows only on the north and south elevations. No 4, facing south, has replacement windows, No 5, known as 'Ty Canol', has uPVC windows, and No 6 also features replacement windows.
