Description
Tynant is a 1½-storey house built in the Arts-and-Crafts style, influenced by CFA Voysey. It features pebble-dashed walls set on a rock-faced stone plinth and has a steep roof covered with graded slates, along with two pebble-dashed chimney stacks. The upper parts of each gable are hung with slate. The windows primarily consist of plain mullions and small-pane iron-framed casements.
The front of the house is marked by a pronounced asymmetry, with gabled bays at the center and to the left, the latter being asymmetrical, while the right side of the elevation is set back. Between the gables, there is a rainwater head that is dated. The entrance, located near the center, is recessed and framed in freestone with sunk ovolo moulding and a cambered head. It features a panelled door with a large porthole window that has small-pane glazing. To the right of the entrance is a four-light window, and to the left is a small window in a dressed surround. A canted oriel window is positioned to the right of center beneath the right-hand gable. Beneath the left-hand gable, there is a cross window for the stair and a small window further to the left.
The asymmetrical right gable end is highlighted by a mullioned bow window, which is situated beneath a four-light attic window. On the right side, there is a battered pier that leads to a recessed veranda at the rear elevation. The asymmetrical left gable end has two boarded doors, a casement window to the left, and a two-light casement window with a replacement door to the right. Above this, there is a two-light window to the right and a small window to the left. The rear of the house features a lower projecting gabled bay to the right of center, with a recessed veranda to its left. The building has not been inspected.
