Description
This is a two-storey late Georgian town house of considerable refinement, originally one of a pair. Constructed in the late 18th century using coursed, rough-dressed local stone blocks, it features a modern slate roof and a large chimney on the right-hand side. The eaves project, and three modern skylights have been added. The four-bay facade has its entrance in the third bay from the left, leading to a six-panel door with a simple rectangular overlight. Elegant, recessed 20-pane sash windows with horns are present on the ground floor, while the first floor has similar 16-pane windows. The windows have projecting slate sills and plain slate lintels. A modern plaque, positioned between the ground and first floors, commemorates the loss of an American bomber near Bala in 1943. Simple spear-headed railings stand on a low coped brick wall in front of the building. The rear elevation also has sash windows, and a tall, multi-pane stairwell window is visible. The interior retains its original late Georgian staircase, characterized by stick balusters and a mahogany handrail. The building possesses group value from the quality of its architecture.
