Description

This is a terrace of five tall, narrow, three-storey, two-bay houses, numbered 16-24 Market Street. The front facades are finished with roughly textured roughcast, with the exception of No 18, which has a pebble-dashed finish. The roofs are graded slate, with replacements on No 22, and feature roughcast stacks on the right side of each house. Each house has its doorway set to the right side, and the windows above the doors are blind. Nos 16 and 20 retain their original panelled doors, each with a three-pane overlight. No 24 retains a fielded-panel door, while the remaining houses have replacement doors and overlights. No 16 retains original sash windows with 16 panes to each sash, which are shorter on the upper floor; No 20 has similar windows with horns; No 24 has 20 panes in the lower two floors and 16 panes in the upper floor. Nos 18 and 22 have replacement windows.

The rear elevation is constructed of rubble stone and includes single-storey projections (two-storey at No 16). No 24 has a slightly deeper plan, which causes it to project forward of the rest of the terrace. The rear elevation features original openings with slate lintels, but the windows have been replaced. The building forms a group with Nos 16-24 Market Street.
