Description

Ratgoed Hall is a slate-built house dating from the 18th century. It is constructed of regularly coursed slate with rusticated end quoins. The house is two storeys high, with a cellar, and has three window bays. The central entrance features a four-panelled door set within a frame with a moulded architrave, positioned behind a dominant rusticated and quoined segmental arch that is flush with the front facade and springs from a chamfered plinth. Each side bay originally contained 12-pane sash windows; these have been replaced with late 20th-century timber windows designed to resemble the originals, although a single original 12-pane sash window remains above the door. The eaves are boxed. The left-hand gable end, which looks out over the valley, has a canted bay window, with steps leading down to the garden. A later rear extension, with a lean-to roof on the north side, now houses the kitchen and services. The property was not accessible at the time of inspection.
