Description
Erw Fair is a group of five houses built in the 18th century, featuring two-storey fronts with one window each. Houses numbered 1 and 4 have later added attics, while numbers 1 and 2 are a mirrored pair. The buildings are constructed of ashlar masonry, complete with a parapet, cornice, band courses, and a plinth. They have a slate roof and rendered chimney stacks. The window bays slightly project, except for No 4, which has an added three-window squared bay that includes a tall, pedimented attic storey. The ground floor windows of this bay are arched-headed and feature keystones. Most windows have sash glazing, except for Nos 1 and 3, which have Victorian casement windows with starburst colored overlights. No 1 also features a gabled attic with a pediment treatment. The doors are six-panel, with No 4 having a later part-glazed door and a stone porch with an arched entry. Late Georgian railings flank the stone steps leading to the entrances, and there are coursed stone walls in the forecourt. A gated side passage is located to the right.
