Description
The Bandstand is a single-storey classical loggia situated above a substation basement. It features rendered elevations and a shallow hipped metal roof. The structure has three bays on the long sides and two bays on the short sides, with round-headed arches that include impost bands, keys, and circular spandrel plaques. The entrance is located at the center of the inward-facing northwest long side, while the remaining arches display cast-iron decorative mermaid panels in their lower halves.
Adjacent to the bandstand on the east are the Hercules Steps, which consist of a long flight of broad, stone-flagged steps that descend in three straight flights down the hillslope. The steps end at a part-balustraded parapet wall with a stepped waterfall below, overlooking Anchor and Fountain and the lawns in front of them.
