Sluice, two sluice houses and linking footbridge adjacent to Children's Mill

The structure consists of a sluice, two sluice houses, and a linking footbridge located next to Children's Mill. Each side of the stone sluice features a square brick building, which is faced with a combination of dressed stone and glazed terracotta. Both buildings have a stepped flat roof, with a seated lion on top. They are currently overgrown, and the southern sluice house is connected to Children's Mill by a short brick wall. Inside the sluice houses, there are paddles used for regulating the water flow into the leat that leads to the Mill. The northern sluice house, located near the stables, includes a cast-iron lamp standard inscribed with "John Evans 1920." The two sluice houses are connected by a gated iron footbridge, which is in poor condition, with some missing sections of the deck and decorative parapets.
