Description
This is a long agricultural range situated in Dronwy, dating from the 18th century. The range is divided into a corn barn to the south and cowhouses to the north. The corn barn is constructed with uncoursed rubble walls resting on boulder foundations. It has a roof of small slates, with a narrow gable coping to the north end, and is covered in grout. A central door is accessed via a large boulder jambstone on the left side, and is topped with a corbelled stone lintel which acts as a dripcourse. To the left of the door is a narrow ventilation slit, and a former door has been blocked to create a small window to the right. A winnowing door is located in the rear wall and has been infilled with breeze blocks, with a further infilled window or pitching hole to the left. Extending from the corn barn is a lower-ridged section comprising a pair of conjoined cowhouses. The cowhouse to the left has a corrugated iron roof, while the cowhouse to the right has a roof of small slates with a skylight in the rear (west) pitch. The left cowhouse has a blocked door converted into a window on the left side and a stable door in the centre, with a blocked window to the right. The right cowhouse has a single blocked door at the left end, and a door in the north gable end has been widened to allow tractor access. A modern breeze block shed is attached to the south gable end of the corn barn. Internal inspection of the corn barn was not possible. The north cowhouse has a three-bay roof with sawn and bolted collared trusses, and torching to the underside.
