Description
The Vivian Memorial Crosses consist of a series of four Celtic memorial crosses, each richly decorated on all sides. The tallest cross features a tapering shaft on a stepped plinth, topped with a cross that has splayed arms connected by a circular band. It is adorned with Celtic knotwork and swirling designs that include a floral motif. This memorial honors Claud Hamilton Vivian, the fourth son of the second Baron Vivian, who died in 1902, along with his wife Constance Emily Vivian, who died in 1905, and their daughter Ursula Hermione, who died in 1945. It also commemorates Robert C. C. Vivian, who died in 1884, and Violet Clinton Vivian, who died in 1883.
To the left is a smaller cross, similarly detailed, dedicated to Claud Esme Vivian, who died in 1928, the second son of The Honorable Claud Hamilton Vivian of Plas Gwyn, as well as to Esme Constance, who died in 1851, Emily, who died in 1934, and Vincent Patrick Brennan, who died in 1896.
Behind this cross stands another similar cross featuring front and side panels of Celtic knotwork and spirals, dedicated to Mary Elizabeth, Lady Vivian, the wife of the second Baron, who died in 1887, and their son Walter Warrick Vivian, who died in 1943.
To the right is the last cross in the series, which differs from the others as it consists solely of the cross on a stepped plinth, honoring Charles Hussey Panton Vivian, the eldest son of Mary Elizabeth, Lady Vivian of Plas Gwyn, who died in 1892, and Anthony Hamilton Vivian, who died in 1922.
