Description
Bodloigan is a small vernacular farmhouse dating from the 18th century. It is two stories high and has a two-unit plan with a central entrance. The building features a three-window range and a lofted addition on the left (north) gable end. The walls are made of rubble with widely slobbered mortar, and the roof is covered with small slates and has tile copings. There are gable end chimney stacks, with the one on the left (north) being larger and originally serving an inglenook fireplace. The windows are 4-pane horned sash windows, set beneath flat rubble arches with dripstones on the ground floor, which were likely later additions. Above the door, there is a blind window that is slightly recessed and has a painted outline of a 4-pane sash window. A lean-to porch with a slate roof is present at the entrance. The bakehouse addition has a single door and a 4-pane fixed light window on the ground floor, along with a 6-pane fixed light set under the eaves, which originally served a loft, although the interior is now single-storey. The bakehouse also features rubble walls, roughcast, and a roof covered with small slates. A large square chimney is located on the gable end of the bakehouse.
