Description

58 Castle Street is a late Georgian style house that stands three stories high and features two windows. The exterior is finished in scribed render painted pink, with a raised band at the middle storey. The slate roof extends continuously from the adjoining house at No 56 Castle Street on the right, and there is an external stack on the left in a pebble-dashed gable end. The entrance is located on the right and includes a fielded-panel door topped by a round-headed overlight.

On the lower storey, there are two 4-pane horned sash windows. The middle storey features a 20-pane hornless sash window on the left and a 4-pane horned sash window in an oriel window on the right. The upper storey has 12-pane horned sash windows.

At the rear, there is a 2½-storey gabled wing that has a 2-pane attic sash window, but the rest of the rear has altered windows and a 1-storey projection that was added around the year 2000. On the right side of the rear, there is a 2-pane sash window in the upper storey above a 1-storey lean-to.

Inside, the house has an asymmetrical layout. The entrance hall is on the right side and leads to a stair hall that is positioned at right angles behind the main ground-floor room. The full-height open-well staircase features a turned newel and plain balusters.
