Description
This is a later 18th-century Georgian house and associated offices. Initially, the house was built as a two-storey structure with a basement and attics at the rear, originally displaying five windows across its front. The construction uses coursed rubble, with a piended slate roof and corner stones. A projecting central pavilion features a distyle in antis portico. At the rear, there are two polygonal projecting bays. The interior retains original six-panelled doors and other timber finishings, along with plaster relief decoration. The offices are two-storeys high and built of random rubble, with piended slate roofs. They are linked to the main house by quadrant walls. The house was possibly built for George Moncrieff, a known agricultural improver of Blackburn.
