Description
The East Pavilion and associated offices are of the later 18th century and are built in a Georgian style. The main house is a two-storey building with a basement and attics at the rear, originally featuring five windows across its facade. It is constructed from coursed rubble stone with corner stones and has a piended slate roof. A projecting central pavilion is accentuated by a distyle in antis portico. At the rear are two polygonal projecting bays. The interior retains original features including six-panelled doors and other wooden finishings, along with plaster relief decoration. The offices, built of random rubble with piended slate roofs, are linked to the main house by quadrant walls. The buildings were perhaps constructed for George Moncrieff, an agricultural improver associated with Blackburn.
