Description
Low Bridge is a mid-19th century stone bridge featuring three segmental-arch spans, including two dry flanking overflow arches, which carry the former road over Fruin Water. The bridge was reconstructed and widened with a reinforced concrete frame in 1931. It is built from bull-faced, squared sandstone and has an ashlar parapet, ashlar voussoirs, an arch ring, and a keystone. The bridge also includes droved triangular cutwater buttresses. A plaque on the bridge is inscribed with "Sir Chas Preston Bart., Governor General, Military Road."
