Description
The Clashmore Tunnel Ventilation Shaft Enclosures and Sighting Pillar, part of the former Glasgow Corporation Water Works, were built around 1856. The enclosures consist of three circular structures made from random rubble, featuring whinstone and topped with bull-faced sandstone coping. Each enclosure has a domed, wrought-iron 'birdcage' top. The sighting pillar is square in plan, capped with a pyramid, and constructed from rubble masonry, sitting on a raised rubble masonry base at the top of the hill.
