Description

Loch Lomond And Trossachs National Park Planning Authority

An early 19th century bridge with 3 segmental arches, carrying one of the principal drives of the estate SE-NW across the Doghouse Burn. It is built of droved ashlar with lightly tooled shallow pilasters dividing the arched and a shallowly convex-coped parapet which terminates at each end with short swept wing walls with scrolled ends. Duchess Bridge is part of the landscape development of Buchanan Castle estate. The policies of Buchanan Castle are included in the Inventory of Gardens and Designed Landscapes in Scotland (Vol. 4, 291).
