Description
The 18th century walled garden at Auchlyne is located immediately south of the house and features a simple rectangular enclosure made of rubble stone. The south wall is notably lower than the other walls, likely designed to enhance sunlight exposure. There is a basic gated pedestrian entrance. On the outer face of the west wall, there is a rubble-built kennel with a replacement corrugated roof and concrete pens, which are topped with simple hooped iron railings. Walled gardens were an essential part of estates, providing year-round fruit and vegetables, and also serving as a recreational space.
