Description
The Walled Garden at Auchernach House, built around 1810, is an impressive large rectangular garden enclosed by walls, featuring crenellated towers and a central terrace. It is located on a south-facing slope behind the former Auchernach House, overlooking the Water of Nochty. The northern wall has a tall, slim granite ashlar tower with raised quoin strips and margins at its center. There are circular towers on both the eastern and western walls, and the wall is breached at the southeast corner. The high walls are made of rubble and partly harled, with flat coping.
On the south elevation of the northern wall, there are steps leading up to a door in the first stage of the square tower. The second stage has an inscribed granite panel below a panel that once held a clock, with a louvered opening above. The round towers also provide access to the garden. Additionally, there are vaulted cellars, which are remnants of the early house, and remains of a concrete arcade at the ruinous southern edge. A further wall extends to the northwest.
