Description

St Columba's Church, located on High Street in Kingussie, was built in 1824 with later alterations. It is a simple rectangular church with a harled exterior, oriented east to west, featuring porches at both the east and west gables. The church has tooled grey granite dressings and a symmetrical south front that includes four long round-headed windows with simple Y-tracery and leaded glazing. There is a similar window, likely from the late 19th century, in the north elevation, flanked by narrower windows with similar detailing. At the apex of the west gable, there is a bellcote topped with a small ball finial, and the church is covered by a slate roof.

The interior has been recast and refitted in 1924 after a fire, and again in 1971. It features a gallery at the west end and a low octagonal pulpit.

Surrounding the church is a rubble-walled burial ground that contains late 18th and 19th century tombstones. The entrance from High Street is flanked by a pair of re-used early to mid-18th century square tooled grey granite gate piers, which have a moulded cornice and stepped caps supporting small attenuated ball finials.
