Description
The Married Quarters' Barracks at Stirling Castle, built around 1870, consists of two blocks. The front block is a three-storey structure made of rubble, featuring symmetrical advanced gabled ends and bipartite windows set in arched recesses on the second floor. The main section has a window arrangement of 1-2-1 between gabled entrance bays, with bipartite windows that are overarched at the top floor. Lean-to railed verandahs are present on the flanks, and there are four outshots at the rear, two of which are modern. The rear block is similar but is two-storey and does not have verandahs on the flanks. The roofs are slated, and there are stepped chimneys.
