Description
The Billiard Hall, located at 7-8 Park Avenue in Stirling, dates back to 1859. This Italianate building is a two-storey, asymmetrical villa constructed from rubble, featuring a three-storey tower topped with a pyramid roof. The ground floor includes canted bays and an arched entrance door with a pediment above. The top stage of the tower has paired small arched windows, and the building is characterized by broad eaves and low-pitched slated roofs.
Additionally, there is a single-storey, coursed rubble structure, likely a billiard room, situated on Clarendon Place. This room has a rectangular plan with rounded angles and features two shouldered tripartite windows containing stained glass. The outshots at both ends have pierced parapets designed in a simple St Andrews Cross pattern. The main roof is bracketted and platformed, equipped with two ogee rooflights. A distinctive feature of the building is its unusual chimney, which is made up of interlocking octagons.
