Description
St Fillian and Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church, built in 1875 by John Laurie Fogo, is constructed from snecked ashlar with polished dressings. The church is an aisleless rectangle featuring a bellcote and is designed in the First Pointed Gothic style. The northeast window consists of three lancets with attached shafts and a hood mould. A band of trefoil decoration forms the base for a cusped and canopied niche topped with a cross at the gable head. The west elevation has five bays divided by buttresses, with windows featuring cusped heads and drip moulds. To the east, there is a projecting lower presbytery with a gabled porch in the re-entrant angle, and the entrance is under a pointed arch. The interior is plain, featuring a decorated truss at the chancel and a pointed blind arcaded reredos.
