Description

Greenlaw Church, located on Greenlaw Avenue in Paisley, was built in 1889 in the style of Burnet and Campbell, with modern additions at the rear. It features a first pointed Gothic design, consisting of an aisleless nave with transepts. The exterior is constructed of snecked and stugged ashlar, highlighted by a gabled west front. The entrance includes a splayed and moulded pointed-arch doorway, flanked by buttresses and small pointed windows. Above the doorway are three lancets with linked hoodmoulds, and a louvred quatrefoil is set in the gable. The church has angle buttresses, and to the right, there is a projecting porch with a cat slide roof. A pointed arch doorway is located on the south side, with three pointed windows above it.

The long elevations of the church feature paired lancets, with three pairs on the south side and four on the north, along with two small windows at the west end. The transepts consist of two bays each, gabled, and include two-light and quatrefoil windows. The east end of the nave has a vesica in the gable, and the sanctuary projects outward with at least three lancets and a roof that reduces pitch in the lower parts. The roofs are covered with green slate and feature ridge tiles, along with an octagonal roof ventilator topped with a spirelet over the nave.

At the northeast corner, there is a single-storey session room and vestry, which includes a modern extension. Inside, the chancel arch is flanked by two smaller arches that house organs. The nave roof is a hybrid of hammer beam and collar beam styles, and there is a coved rear gallery supported by two balustered supports.
