Description
18-20 Baker Street in Stirling is a mid-19th century, three-storey and attic, three-bay terraced tenement that includes shops on the ground floor. The building features polished ashlar stonework, with painted render on the ground floor, and the west elevation is constructed from rubble with a stack made of stugged ashlar. It has a continuous fascia band and cornice above the ground floor, along with a cill band and eaves band.
The south elevation facing Baker Street has five bays at the ground level arranged as two shops. The left shop has a recessed entrance and a 19th-century shop window on the outer left. The shop on the right also has a recessed entrance with a fanlight, flanked by 19th-century shop windows. Above these shops, the fenestration is regular, featuring two canted slate-hung dormers with bow-fronted roofs.
On the west elevation, which adjoins No. 14, the upper part of the gable is exposed, showcasing a stack made of stugged ashlar. The building has timber sash and case windows with 8-pane glazing, and the left window on the first floor has a lower plate glass sash. The roof is covered with grey slates, and there is a stack on the west gable with 11 terracotta cans.
