Description
Rednock House is an early 18th-century building that originally featured plain vernacular rubble-block construction with shaped gables. It has low wings that form a U-plan. In 1827, a large two-storey and basement block was added to the east, designed by architect Robert Brown from Edinburgh. This addition has a three-window frontage made of droved ashlar, with the central bay projecting and featuring a pedimented, Greek Doric porch. The steps leading to the porch are flanked by cast iron eagles on squat Doric columns. Around 1840, screen walls with circular baronial towers were added to the wings at the junction of the old and new parts of the house. Inside, there is a circular central hall with a dome and other notable interior features.
