Description
The Moray Institute is a late 19th century hall located on George Street in Doune. It features three bays and has a gabled facade facing the street, with a low wing extending to the east. The building is constructed of coursed squared rubble with ashlar dressings.
The central wide bay has a shallow projection and is framed by a moulded round-headed arch that rises from imposts, which surrounds a recessed door and a round-headed window above. The flanking bays and the wing also have similarly shaped windows, complete with hood moulds, keystones, and decorative architraves.
The eaves are deeply projecting and supported by stone brackets with pendants over the central bay. The roof is slate-covered and piended at the east end of the wing. Additionally, there are two axial coped stacks featuring narrow panels that divide the flues and have set backs.
