Description
2 New Lanark Road is a classical lodge built around 1800. It is a two-storey, three-bay structure with a rectangular plan and a piend roof, located at the top of the descent into New Lanark. The central entrance bay is slightly advanced and features a pediment. The building is constructed from roughly squared, coursed sandstone with ashlar dressings, and includes an eaves course and long and short quoins. The windows are regularly arranged, with tabbed margins, featuring bipartite windows on the ground floor of the front elevation and on the first floor at the rear. The entrance door is timber-panelled and has a fanlight, set within a deeply recessed plain ashlar architrave. The windows predominantly have 12-pane glazing and are made of timber in a sash and case style.
