18-22 Cadzow Street, Hamilton

12, 14, and 16 Cadzow Street in Hamilton is a building dating from around 1840, showcasing late classical architecture. It is constructed of painted ashlar and stands at three storeys, with shops on the ground floor. The modern shopfronts have encroached on the first-floor windows, but a Corinthianesque doorpiece remains intact at number 12. The window elevation features corniced first-floor windows, second-floor windows with crossette architraves, and an eaves band course, cornice, and blocking course. The roof is slated, and there are corniced ashlar stacks. The original second-floor glazing is present in the upper sashes of the first floor and all of the second floor at numbers 8 to 18, while numbers 20 and 22 have been reglazed, and number 24 features arched and circled Edwardian glazing. Additionally, there is a rectangular rear stair projection at number 12.
