Description
Ladykirk House features the remains of a chapel dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Originally, the chapel was designed in a square shape with turrets at each corner, but only one turret remains today. This surviving turret includes a vaulted basement and a later 19th-century upper stage. The chapel has been incorporated into the north wall of a rectangular garden, which is enclosed by walls made of coped sandstone rubble. To the east of the chapel, there are a pair of gatepiers made of channelled ashlar, which are topped with ball finials and cornices. Inside the garden, there are extensive glasshouses along the eastern wall, while the exterior features brick lean-to sheds with slate roofs.
