Description

Seafield is a former merchant's house built around 1830, with later alterations. It is a two-storey, three-bay building that has a two-storey wing at the rear, creating an approximate L-plan. The exterior features cement-rendered and lined walls with cement margins.

The south elevation is symmetrical, with a wide, bowed single-storey porch that has double doors obscuring the central bay. There is a 4-pane timber sash and case window in the center, with doors on either side that curve back to the main elevation. The flanking bays have windows, and the first floor has regular fenestration.

On the west elevation, there is a window to the left at the ground level of the principal gable, which is on the right. The rear wing is recessed on the left and has windows at both the ground and first floors, positioned to the left of center. There is also a single-storey lean-to porch centered on this elevation.

The north elevation features the rear wing, which is advanced on the right and has a single window to the right at ground level. There is a large wallhead stack that breaks the eaves at the center, and a single-storey lean-to store is located in the re-entrant angle to the left.

The building predominantly has late 19th-century 4-pane timber sash and case windows. The principal roof is clad in corrugated sheets, while the wing has a tall piended roof. The gablehead stacks are harled and coped, with circular cans.

Inside, many original fittings remain, including panelled timber doors and timber chimneypieces. The workshop in the rear wing features an open timber roof at the first floor.

The property is enclosed by random rubble garden walls, which surround a small garden to the south and a larger garden to the north.
