Description

Crowfootbank Farmhouse is possibly from the late 18th century, with later additions and alterations. It is a symmetrical, two-storey, three-bay house designed in a classical style, featuring a single-storey wing at the rear that forms an L-shape, along with a lean-to porch in the rear re-entrant angle. The exterior is made of tooled cream sandstone rubble, with sandstone ashlar dressings and a harled porch. The building has droved quoins and droved long and short surrounds around the openings, as well as projecting cills.

On the southeast (entrance) elevation, there are steps leading to a deep-set timber panelled door that is centered at the ground level, topped by a rectangular fanlight with crossed astragals. The door is framed by a plain, corniced surround, and there is a single window aligned above it on the first floor, with single windows in both flanking bays.

The southwest (side) elevation features the original block with a single window at ground level in the bay to the right. The recessed single-storey wing to the left has a projecting porch in the outer right bay, with single windows in the two bays to the left and a boarded timber door in the outer left bay.

On the northwest (rear) elevation, there is a blind elevation to the projecting wing on the outer left, and a lean-to porch is recessed to the right. The original block has a stair window at the center and single windows at both floors in the outer right bay.

The northeast (side) elevation has the original block with single windows at both floors in the bay to the right, and a single window in the single-storey wing attached to the outer right.

The windows predominantly feature 12-pane glazing in timber sash and case style, although the rear wing has modern glazing. The roof is covered with grey slate and has a diamond pattern motif at the center front, raised skews, and corniced brick apex stacks on the main block, along with a central ridge stack on the rear wing and various circular cans. The rainwater goods have been replaced.

The interior was not seen in 1998. The site is partially enclosed by rubble garden walls.
