Description
The former stables at North Lodge, Burn House, date from around 1815 and have later additions. This building is mainly single-storey and has a U-shaped plan. It is constructed from whinstone rubble with sandstone ashlar dressings. The outer bays project forward and feature piended roofs with Diocletian arches on the south wing, which is raised by half a storey to provide accommodation for grooms or gardeners.
The windows are predominantly timber sash and case, with 6-pane glazing. The roofs are covered with grey slate, and there are ridge stacks at the left and right outer bays, with clay cans on the right.
